DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY IN TOURISM MANAGEMENT

The programmme aims to provide a firm foundation for excellence in tourism management research in Kenya and the region. The programme, therefore, emphasizes advanced research and development in the hospitality industry.

Programme Objectives

  1. To nurture high-quality Ph.D. graduates in Tourism Management prepared to become world-class tourism researchers and scholars for academic positions in reputable tourism schools or for research positions in tourism or government organizations.
  2. Produce graduates with marked ability, scholarship, and research skills to pursue rigorous research and makes an original contribution to knowledge and practitioners in a broad field of tourism 
  3. To ensure the very best learning experience in a vibrant academic environment where national and international tourism networks support students’ growth

  1. To produce qualified Ph.D. graduates in hospitality/tourism Management prepared to be academic and research professionals in hospitality/tourism Management
  2. Produce graduates with marked ability, scholarship, and research skills in a broad field of hospitality
  3. To provide an in-depth understanding of the international environment pervading tourism and the hospitality industry in general.
  4. To provide an intellectual environment that nurtures an interest in research and academic development.

MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ECO-TOURISM MANAGEMENT

The programmme aims to produce world-class researchers with scholarly excellence that will positively influence the practice of ecotourism while simultaneously improving the management of tourist attractions and protected areas. The curriculum is designed to offer a unique experience to qualified students particularly those already in the ecotourism sector.

  1. To produce knowledge and skill-based manpower in Ecotourism Management.
  2. To provide evidenced-based research intervention for ecotourism problems in Kenya and the greater Eastern Africa region
  3. To provide an intellectual environment that nurtures an interest in research and academic development.
