Introduction

The recent growth of tourism in Kenya and the East African region requires competent and dedicated human resources with the ability to work in the various sectors of hospitality and related institutions in the region and beyond. The fast-changing nature of the hospitality and tourism industry requires personnel who are capable of understanding and be responsive to the ever-changing environment. Against this background, this course has been designed to train and produce graduates who are able to meet the industry demands.  

Programme Objectives

  1. To provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to function effectively in a diverse and global hospitality and tourism environment
  2. To produce graduates with the ability to integrate concepts and theories across various functional domains in the hospitality industry and other related institutions.
  3. To provide students with the career-oriented program with professional leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills needed for managing hospitality operations and other related institutions.
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN TRAVEL & TOURISM MANAGEMENT WITH IT

Introduction

The recent growth of tourism in Kenya has called for the development of human resources to work in the various tourism and hospitality firms in the country. This programme will provide skilled and knowledgeable graduates who are employable as both operatives and managers in the different tourism and hospitality establishments in Kenya thus filling any existing training needs gaps.

Programme Objectives

  1. To produce graduates who understand the link between tourism, host communities, and the environment thereby influencing policy on the use of tourism resources sustainably;
  2. To provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to function effectively in a diverse and global tourism environment
  3. To produce graduates with the ability to integrate concepts and theories across various functional domains in the tourism industry
  4. To provide students with the career-oriented program with professional leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills needed for managing diverse tourism operations locally and internationally
  5. To provide the student with proficiency in the application of selected technology in tourism organization work environment
BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ECO-TOURISM HOTEL AND INSTITUTION MANAGEMENT WITH IT

DIPLOMA IN HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

Introduction

The hospitality industry is a major employer worldwide and consists of a broad category of fields which include lodging, restaurants event planning, etc. Despite the rapid growth of the industry, there has not been a commensurate growth in the number of trained professionals to meet the diverse needs of the clientele. This programme intends to train students who will be able to meet the challenges in careers within the hospitality industry. 

Programme Objectives

  1. Equip students with skills and knowledge in food and beverage as well as accommodation services.
  2. Equip students with balanced training that combines theory and practical experience within the hospitality industry.
  3. Train students to have management and entrepreneurial skills for self-reliance. 
CERTIFICATE IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM OPERATIONS

Introduction

The hospitality and tourism industry is highly competitive, especially with regard to the standard of services required by the various clienteles. The industry requires highly trained and groomed professionals to plan, manage and sustain the standards required for any given hospitality and tourism sector. Such training and grooming is a prerequisite in various specialties of the industry. This programme is intended to produce world-class professionals who will venture into challenging careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.

  1. Provide broad understanding of the operational aspects of the hospitality and tourism industry
  2. Offer training that serves as a foundation for further education in the hospitality and tourism industry
